Organising Style - Did you know that organising is not one size fits all?

An organized space - a table with a lovely vase of plants and two chairs, a mirror on the wall and a beautiful ceiling light.
"You are the artist of your surrounds"

Yes, each person has an organising style and understanding it will help you learn how to be organised for good.

If you find it challenging to keep things in place, it’s probably because you have been trying to organise in the traditional way.

You are NOT messy, you organise differently. Stop trying to use a system that isn't designed for you, and start seeing organising success. Cassandra Aarssem

The Organising Expert Cassandra Aarssem struggled with clutter and organisation for years, always trying to copy what organised people do, but guess what? It wasn’t working because she is not a naturally organised person and her brain works totally different.

She has discovered that each person has a unique organising style and have created the Clutterbug Organising Philosophy, which states that the organising style is a combination of:

  • How people SORT things - in a small and detailed category (micro organised) or in a large and less detailed category (macro organised).

  • How people STORE things - behind closed doors (hidden system) or out in the open space (visual system).

After discovering her organising style, her life has improved and changed completely.

What is your Organising Style?

You can also improve your daily routine by knowing which organising style are you, making significant changes in your life. Check the four organising styles below:

  • Ladybug: they are macro organisers and like their everyday used items hidden, out-of-sight.

  • Cricket: they are micro organisers and like their everyday used items hidden, out-of-sight.

  • Butterfly: they are macro organisers and need visual systems because they easily forget about items if they can’t see, “out of sight, out of mind”.

  • Bee: they are micro organisers and need visual systems because they easily forget about items if they can’t see, “out of sight, out of mind”.

As you can see, organising is not one size fits all. Besides understanding the organising style of my clients, I also need to understand their lifestyle and routine to create an organising system that will work for them. The organising service is uniquely customised to fit into my clients’ needs.
